Call for Workshops

Pdf Document

Scope

The Fifth International Conference on Communication System Software and Middleware (COMSWARE) will be held from July 1st to July 3rd, 2011 in Verona, Italy. The conference will focus on the state of the art in the design, implementation and use of communication systems software and middleware systems, ranging from traditional telecommunication systems to mobile computing, multimedia systems, peer-to-peer networks and Internet services. The areas of interest will also include the interoperation, integration, connectivity and management of communication systems software and middleware systems. The COMSWARE conference is the premier international forum for researchers, business leaders, educators and practitioners to present and discuss the performance of current systems, in conjunction with the current trends and potential concerns in the field of communication systems software and middleware systems. The conference will feature a high quality technical program consisting of invited speakers, research and industry papers and workshops.

Workshops

The COMSWARE 2011 conference will hold a number of high-quality co-located workshops. The overall goal of the workshops is to explore specific topics of special interest to researchers and industry communities, thus bringing together a critical mass in more focused areas. Furthermore, they are the perfect setting to present and discuss work that is more preliminary in results or speculative in the approaches described, instead of the more mature work to be presented at the main conference.

The proposed workshops can address any of the topics related to the conference, preferably introducing new, emerging software and middleware areas. Workshop proposals to be accepted should actively foster submissions to ensure overall quality and significant participants.

Each workshop must setup its own web page (to be linked on the COMSWARE web page) and handle submissions. The full list of co-located workshops will be posted after the close of the call for workshop proposals. Accepted papers of the workshops will be published in a special COMWARE 2011 workshops volume.

Workshop proposals should be submitted in PDF format, with maximum 3 pages, 11pt font, single-column text, and should include the following information:

  • The proposed title of the workshop
  • A brief technical description of the workshop topic area
  • A brief statement of the relevance of the workshop theme to COMSWARE
  • A short description of the intended length and format of the workshop
  • intended schedule of the workshop regarding paper submission, reviewing and author notification
  • The names and e-mail addresses of the organizing committee
  • A preliminary list of PC members, mainly including those that have accepted to participate in the committee, but also accounting for other members already invited with acceptance pending
  • A description of the organizers' strategy for attracting submissions and attendees to workshop, and COMSWARE participation

Each workshop will be responsible for organizing their own publicity initiatives, submission handling, and refereeing procedures, ensuring that all accepted papers are peer reviewed. Workshops should set up their web page, and provide its URL to be linked from the COMSWARE main site.

Accepted papers should be no longer than 6 pages in the format prescribed by ACM SIG Proceedings Style. Workshop organizers must enforce these specifications on all accepted papers.

The conference organizers aim for a common timeline for all workshops, which is presented below.
